General
Character Name: Horst Cabal
Species (human/alien/vampire/other?): vampire
Extra-human/abnormal abilities, if any?: Super-speed, Invisibility, Mesmerism, Superhuman strength
Psychology
1. Is it okay for your character's thoughts to be read/their mind to be probed? Generally, yes, just run it past me first. Horst has low-level psychic abilities, so his mind may not be a complete open book, but I like making things fun for my characters, so I'm usually game.
2. Is it okay for any of your character’s intense/distressing memories to be seen/heard/read in this situation? Again, please ask first -- I won't say no unless I think it'd be a big problem, so let's talk!
3. What kind of mind does your character have? Are they disturbed at all? Are their thoughts ordered or jumbled? Horst is outwardly the picture of pleasant composure, but things in his head are a bit more of a muck. Eight years in solitary confinement in a crypt have taken their toll on him, and his thoughts tend to be very circular, meander off into wide tangents, or just spiral away into eccentric silliness: his stream of consciousness has pretty choppy waters. His low-level psychic abilities have their own impact, too; he currently has no knowledge or training in how to actively shield his thoughts, but he is at least aware of psychic contact being made.
4. Is it okay for your character’s emotions to be sensed? Same refrain here -- generally, yes, just run it past me first.
5. Does your character have a weak or strong mind? Are they susceptible to influence or hypnotism? As noted above, Horst's mind isn't currently particularly strong, as he hasn't learned how to shield his thoughts in any intentional way -- the only natural defense he has is that his mind may be a bit more difficult to make sense of than anticipated. He could be psychically manipulated by anyone whose abilities outstrip his own.
6. Does your character have supernatural/mental fortification against mind-reading or telepathic communication? See above -- no, but because he has some psychic ability of his own, he could try to learn from someone else.
7. In the case of characters who are extra-sentient/psychic and can just 'know' things about people, can the muns of these characters use the powers of Wikipedia to get information about your character? Yes, just run it past me first!
8. If so, is there anything that should absolutely never ever be brought up? Nothing I'd put a blanket moratorium on!
9. Anything that should absolutely be brought up? Nah, I got nothin' here.
10. Will thoughts in the narration be up for grabs? If so, how will you indicate these? Italics/strikes/something else? I generally use italics to indicate direct, word-for-word thoughts, and those are probably up for grabs taking into account my above responses. Just hit me up on aim or email and we'll hammer it out.
11. Does your character have any fears/phobias that you wouldn't mind being exploited? Ones that you'd like to NOT be exploited? Horst has . . . abandonment issues? Nothing I can think of that would be off-limits.
Physiology
1. Is it okay for your character to be affected by chemical agents? Fear toxins, for example? Horst can be influenced by airborne agents, definitely, but since his breathing is on a somewhat voluntary basis, it would take a bit longer for any to take effect. To speed up the process, try scenting your biotoxins with cinnamon or expensive perfume or blood. :3 It's harder for him to ingest some manner of poison or have it injected, since his body has an unconventional relationship to blood: in order to get drunk, for example, the most effective method would be for him to feed on someone who was drunk at the time.
2. Does your character have any unique biological difference that would affect their resistance to toxins/chemical substances? See above -- he has a parasitic circulatory system. Don't ask how it works. He doesn't.
3. Does your character have any notable genetic/supernatural/biological difference that would make their blood in any way different to a regular baseline human's (that would make them taste different if they were fed on by a vampire, for example)? If he drinks your blood and you then drink his, you'll become cursed with vampirism just like he is. If you're already a vampire, his blood probably tastes a bit stale. In either event, Horst would be very sad with you for doing it.
Physical
1. How okay are you with your character coming to physical harm? Go for it! I'd prefer to know about it in advance, but this is probably a-okay.
2. How okay are you with your character's home/possessions being targeted by bad guys? Totally fine, so long as they're not throwing open the shutters or cracking open the hope chest he sleeps in or anything while he's asleep.
3. Can your character be impacted by telekinesis? Yep.
4. With regard to vampires, would your character be willing to be a donor? N/A, but if someone would like Horst to donate vampirism TO them, the answer is most emphatically no. It's not a curse that should be shared.
5. If no, then how about unwilling? N/A, but if your character is planning to try and forcibly become a vampire against Horst's wishes by forcibly drinking his blood, let's talk.
6. With regard to shapeshifters, are you okay with having those with this power taking the shape of your character? Definitely yes! (What a handsome dog, Horst can't say he blames them. :3)
7. If your character has any superhuman abilities, would you be okay with these being replicated by those who have the power to absorb/take on the powers of others? Sure!
8. In a physical confrontation, is it okay if characters who have the power to sense/foresee/predict movements use this to their advantage against your character? Absolutely.
9. Are you willing to participate in plots where your character will sustain damage outside of a fight, such as in situations with torture, environmental hazards, or accidents? Absolutely! Or all three at once, which would be a very grim episode of Captain Planet indeed. (Can I nominate Crazed Paladin Captain Planet for the next meta glitch?)
10. Is there anything about them that would stand out noticeably (things like scars, physical augmentations, illness, anomalies, etc.) if they were ever injured or otherwise examined by a doctor? Are any of these things noticeable to others without close inspection? Even Frank Abagnale has enough medical knowledge to be able to notice in a medical examination that Horst may not be completely this side of the mortal divide. The lack of a heartbeat is usually a big giveaway, as is the breathing-optional-ness, the pale skin, and the fact that unlike most human beings, Horst is always comfortably at room temperature. The pronounced eye teeth are a pretty good clue as well, but yes, anyone perceptive enough to be able to tell whether or not something's undead will definitely be able to recognize that Horst is undead.
Magics
1. Can your character be influenced and tempted by magical or supernatural means? He sure can.
2. If yes, will someone with the ability be able to find this out about them, and in what areas (think the seven deadly sins) can your character be tempted? Pride is... complicated, but sloth is viable, lust is right up his alley, and wrath's easy by way of his tendency toward self-righteousness. Avarice isn't really his weak point, and envy's a hard sell, too. Gluttony he has completely under control, and if magically forced to that rather than merely tempted, this would be a huge point of freakout for him, because his vampirism is definitely a hated curse in no uncertain terms -- but otherwise it's not an area where he can be easily tempted to excess.
3. Could your character be glamoured (a form of mind control employed by vampires to make humans compliant/alter their memories etc.)? If you can outglamour Horst, then yes, he'll bow to the superior glamming.
4. Can your character be affected by spells of any kind, and are there any specific types to which they would be immune? Yes, he can be affected by spells, and being dead, this specifically makes him susceptible to necromantic control as well. The only types of spells that wouldn't affect him would be those that require a beating heart or a living human body.
5. Can your character's presence be sensed by characters with the power to read auras/pick up generalized vibes from people? Horst can make himself unnoticeable to humans, cats, dogs, and other types of animals generally, but only by actively willing himself so. Any level of cognition beyond just having keen eyesight, hearing, smell, etc. could definitely perceive him, however, as well as anything that relies on anything more supernatural than just the five senses. So yes, totally feel free to sense his aura.
6. If yes, what kind of stand-out things about your character can be sensed? For someone so liberal and relaxed-seeming, Horst's aura is one of tautly-wound control and careful repression. He is, at heart, an intrinsically benign and compassionate creature -- beyond his air of romantically tragic vampire-ness, he really is a person who thinks he has to handle the world with kid gloves: the extent to which he gives off dangerous vibes comes from his being a vampire; the extent to which he gives off nurturing vibes comes from his being Horst.
7. With regard to characters that can sense danger/receive visions/predict general doom, are you okay with your character being the subject of any of this, if the occasion arises? Definitely! PORTEND AT WILL.
Privacy
1. Will your character change their name as it is shown on the map? If so, what will they change it to? Horst Brauer, until such time as he has reason to not be Horst Brauer anymore.
2. If they’re able, will they ever opt to hide their location on the map? Yes. Sometimes you need to be able to put a sock on the proverbial doorknob, as it were.
3. If your character is from an earlier point in their canon than another member of your cast, what is and is not okay for your fellow castmate to spill the beans about regarding your character’s future? He doesn't have one beyond his canon point death, as yet, or not one that any other canon character would know about.
4. With regard to characters that like to snoop, can they find anything that's been publicly said by your character through the tablets? Yes.
5. How about privately? If you want to hack Horst's tablet somehow, that's probably fine -- just check with me about what you want to do.
6. Is there anything you'd especially like to be known about your character, for the purposes of amusement? Horst sometimes smells like mothballs, which comes as a huge offense to his sense of personal vanity.
7. Anything you especially don't? Nothing comes to mind!
8 Do you like threadhopping (a character not already in a thread jumping in unexpectedly to reply to a comment), and are you okay with other people threadhopping in your threads and posts? Mi casa es su casa. Hop on in, the water's fine.
